I would have had better results had I not been downloading some software and streaming music though yahoo at the same time. Also my computer has been up and running for about 8 weeks now so the page file is HUGE and broadband needs a lot of space in your temp internet files folder and your temp folder and I hadn't cleaned them out yet and so my connection suffers

Good link. My DSL supplier is the limitation of course. But I get more in the test than the limits are which is good (I have “basis” from my DSL supplier, see below). I don't have too much usage of super fast speed as I do very little of up/dl stuff when it comes to music/video dl etc. As for prices (monthly) over here, see the most right column and divide by 6.3 for prises in US dollars.

    Mini - 700/160 kbps - 299,-
    Basis -1500/300 kbps - 349,-
    Pluss - 3000/350 kbps - 419,-
    Ekstra -6000/500 kbps - 499,-
    Max - 16000/700 kbps - 549,-

How are DSL prices in the US or for that matter in Germany (re. Mike)?

I'm on Comcast Cable. I got better speeds with Optimum Online in New York.

Hi Metronycguy and thanks. Right, I am not up to date as towards the best stuff as for computers speed and so on for the public, but I was very familiar with much of programming a couple of decades ago and some stuff I was good at was QSL and Oracle, this due to my work. These days I have my grey hair old dad taking care of computers and such, he is inline with this although he started his business when he was past 60. I’ll mention this suggestion from you to him. But hey, how much speed does a text “type writer” person need?
