    Hi Afraid.

I got a call into BCBS of Indiana concerning your question about coverage for catheters, and shower chairs and wheelchairs....will let you know as soon as I get a call back. Having worked at BCBS of Indiana for some
18 years I would say "No" they are not covered under Medicare Part D,
but under Medicare Part B...but I will confirm that and get back to you.

My insurance source has indicated catheters, chairs, are under Blue Cross Blue Shield's Medicare B as durable medical equipment...

When I go onto Medicare in 6 months I will also be opting for Medicare D.

But, I have also called:Partnership for Prescription Assistance at 1-888-4PPA-NOW(1-888-477-2669). I take 7 drugs at the moment and four are covered under this PPA above. PPA works with America's Pharmaceutical Companies to make medicines available to patients who cannot afford them. Give them a call, tell them the drugs are are currently taking as see if you can qualify for the freebies.

AARP also has some valuable information on their website on making the choice for Medicare D.

I assume you have already looked at the information on the Medicare website itself?

Call your local ILC also. Many have added counseling programs to help people make the decision about Medicare D coverage.

Keep in mind that every state has different plans, so you need to know what state you live in to make decisions about a Medicare D plan.

I signed up for Part D about 2 months ago.It has been working well and saves me money. I don't take a lot of RX's on a daily basis but it has cut the cost down.

I found the Medicare plan comparison page fairly easy to use once I spent a little time plugging in the info on RX's I use.

    http://www.medicare.gov/Default.asp

I don't have a supplemental / Medigap plan so circumstance is different there but they have a comparison search for that also. If you scroll down to "Search tools" near the bottom third of page you can click on link for "Compare Health Plans and Medigap Policies in your area."
