Seeking donations for clerk

THE Penang UMNO complaints bureau has launched a fund-raising drive to help spinal cord patient Hasni Abdul Halil.

The 22-year-old clerk needs RM30,000 to undergo an implant treatment at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on Jan 12.

Bureau chairman Azlina Mehtab Mohd Ishaq said Hasni’s family had raised about RM15,000 to date.

“She has been experiencing breathing difficulties on and off due to the problem,” Azlina said at the launching of the fundraising campaign at Hasni’s Padang Benggali house in Telok Air Tawar, Butterworth, recently.

Hasni also received a cheque for RM6,000 from Pusat Urus Zakat (PUZ) and another one for RM500 from the Kepala Batas parliamentary constituency .

Her parents, Abdul Halil Bakar, 64 and Salmah Md Isa, 53 were also present.

Abdul Halil said her youngest child had been suffering due to the problem over the past four years.

“We have tried traditional healing method but it has not been fruitful,” he said, adding that she had no choice but to go for operation.
Donations can be sent to the bureau at 2nd floor Bangunan Mahkamah Munisipal MPSP, Lorong Kampung Jawa, Jalan Bagan Luar, 12000 Butterworth or call 013-5973321.
