    Talking Trying to build FRH-1 with LC-1 Axle, centering issues?

    Hi guys,

    I'm 99% sure I shouldn't follow the directions of my FRH-1 because it seems very wrong.

    I'm using the LC-1 Axle (which isn't as long as the FRH-1) and the FRH-1 directions say:

    Installing the rear axle:

    Remove and retain the small Phillips head locking screw from axle. ossen the clamp bolts on the frame. Be sure to notice that the scew holes in the axle and the rear frame are located SLIGHTLY offset from the center and mount accordingly. ALign the small hole in the axle wiht hte ole in th frame and install the Phillips head screw. This screw will keep your axle and wheels in alignment.

    Well if I follow the directions this is what the axle looks like:





    I know a few of you guys have used the LC-1 Axle on the FRH-1 so what did you do about this? I'm assuming you just eyeball it and center it. But if you ditch that screw, do you find your tires getting out of align?

    hah WOW I can be a ra-tard some times, I had to put it in the other way D:

    its centered fine now





    Sucks I have to work in a few hours or I'd finish it! If I didn't have to use my brain for work I'd totally pull an all night'er. Oh well tomorrow!

    So I just put the front end on and wow this thing is huge! I'm definitely thinking I'm going to have to buy a handcycle rack for the car, I don't know if I can fit this thing even in the subaru outback! PS: putting the front end on is a bitch if your doing it yourself.

    Knowing Freedom Rydeer, the screw hole is drilled for the FRH 1 axle. I had to measure end to end to get it centered then did a toe-in/out on the wheels. I have a Top End toe in/out aligment guage so made it easy to do.

    If you don't have one,; measure up to center of tire on left and right, front and back. Then turn axle until front and back widths are the same.

    My bike was sent with the wider axle and then I got the LC1 axle so that could be why the screw hole would not center on the toe in/out. Once I got the right alignment, I tightened down the axle. Don't go nuts on the tightness or you'll squeeze it out of round. You could also redrill a small hole and thread in a screw.

    Call Mike and see if they drilled the hole to LC-1 specs or not.

    It looks like Mike drilled the hole for the LC-1 axle to fit properly into the FRH-1 because it seems perfectly centered to me.

    Haha, you can spend a LOT of time doin' thaangz the wrong way.... I AM the MASTER, I should know
    I wish I had all my wasted time back, there'd be TWO of me, lol.

    Usually, you think of the RIGHT way to do something after you have been asleep for about two hours....'least that's what wakes ME up after an all-day-screw-me-what-the-F!-am-I-doin-wrong kinda day.

    I am super glad for you guys n gals getting the FRH-1's...you have my dreamcycle. I just finished a cussAthon ride with my sis n her hubby last nite. For the first time she was able to leave me setting... actually am proud of'er, she's in the best shape of her life now....
    and I'm at my worst, lol.
    Sooooon, I'ma gonna be building mine. Then I can only cuss me if it sUx.

    BTW, did you have to get a kid's model 'cause yer too short?

    My friend manages to fit his FRH-1 into his subaru outback.. it's tight.
    Front wheel first.

    If it's too tight for your liking to get into your subaru outback,
    removing the rear wheels would be easier, than taking the front end off.
    Once you have 90% of the bike in the car.. front wheel first, remove the
    rear wheels and it will fit fine, while the bike is hanging out the back
    of the subaru outback it'll be easy to remove and replace the rear
    wheels.

    Good idea NW-Will,

    Can your friend do this 100% by himself? I don't want to depend on anyone when I do this so I was trying to figure out how I go from my apartment to my car and put it into the subaru.

    I wasn't sure how well pushing the handbike while in the chair would work.

    If I can manage to get to the car with the handbike and my wheelchair I don't think I would have issues lifting the front end into the back, then coming from behind and lifting the back end and pushing forward.

    Sounds like it would work on paper but the front end is pretty heavy and not having 100% trunk control may be an issue but I guess we'll have to wait and see!

    Friend is a T4.
    Manages to get the bike into the car by himself.
    Only thing we can't do is get our legs into the stirrups unassisted.
    He drives over and then we help each other get our legs into
    the stirrups, wish I had someone to video it, it would be
    comical to watch.

    Very important!!!!

    Keep that little block of styrofoam, guard it with your life (or at least a roommates life). I've found if you have to take the front end off, that little block makes it much easier to assemble.
    Stupidity ain't illegal, but it sure is inconvenient.
