Thread: Medicine

I live in a Rehab facility that took possession of my medications after two students were over medicated on the floor. Now only the mednurse can dispense medication to anyone on the floor. This was all doctor ordered for everyone. Is this legal? I am a completely rational person and capable of getting my meds right by asking someone to give them to me. This is an inconvience because they only give me enough meds to get to and from any trips I may take with no extra for emergencies.

Marie, I think the nurses can best answer this. I'm moving this to the Care Forum.

There are laws that govern the dispensing/securing of medications in any facility. Some facilities do allow medications at a person's bedside if they are locked. There are specific regulations for this and I wopuld ask to see those regulations where you are.
