Unhappy injury with a suprapubic cath

I was changing my son's son suprapubic catheter for the first time and he bleed from the penis and still is. His urologist said that it he will be ok. My son is 16 and this is all new for us. have any of you experience anything like this?

Read the post I just recently did, called "s/p catheter change injury." There is some info in there.

I've had my s/p catheter for two years and only recently had a problem. There have been a lot of times where I bled a lot from the stoma, but never from the penis, so I'm sorry I can't help you out there, except that you should definitely make sure the balloon is not inside the urethra! That's the only reason I can think of for that to happen. And can cause a lot of damage, especially if it's in there for a very long time.

Good luck, and talk to your doctor about this...

    Thumbs up

I'll be getting a suprapubic catheter in the next few weeks. Lots of good information in this post. Thank you!
