Medicaid-funded Long Term Care at a Glance
Disability rights attorney Steve Gold has put together an informational bulletin that looks at Medicaid long-term care expenditures since 1990. In 1990, according to the bulletin, the entire Medicaid budget was $69.7 billion, of which $26 billion--37 percent--went to nursing homes and other long-term care institutions. That same year only $4 billion was used to provide long-term care to people in their homes, which comes to about 5.6 percent of the Medicaid budget. Read more
