    Taking a B vitamin complex

I had some blood work done recently, and my doctor says I'm anemic. He prescribed an iron supplement and a vitamin B complex. I was told to take 3xday. My question is, am I taking more B than I need?

The %daily value for 1 pill is as follows
    dosage %Daily Value
    Thiamin (B1) 100mg 6,667%
    Riboflavin (B2) 100mg 5,882%
    Niacin 100mg 500%
    Vitamin B6 100mg 5,000%
    Folic Acid 400mcg 100%
    Vitamin B12 100mcg 1,667%
    Biotin 100mcg 33%
    Pantothenic Acid 100mg 1,000%
    PABA 100mg
    Inositol 100mg
    Choline Bitartrate 100mg
    Proprietary Blend 1mg

With these high percentages, should I be taking 3/day? My urine looks like I ate a yellow HiLiter. My sister said that means I'm taking more than I need. I drink a lot of water during the day. I just wanted to ask here before asking my doctor. I don't want him to think I don't trust his diagnosis.

If someone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

Is this the actual vitamin supplement prescribed by your physician, or did you pick it on your own? It sounds like a high-potency vitamin designed to be taken only once daily. Since the B complex vitamins are water soluable, you will excrete excess in your urine (they are not stored or conserved by your body like Vit A, D, E or K).

I would send this list to your physician (can you fax it?) and ask them if this is what they intended.

How much iron are you taking?

I'm not sure of the iron dosage. The box was thrown away. The order was called in to my pharmacy, and my pharmacist said they were both available otc. I went later to pick them up. I'll send the list to my doctor and see what he says. Thanks for your help.
