    Wheelchair down stairs?

Not with you in it, for sure!!! If I remember correctly, you are in a power chair...it is important that the chair be rolled down the stairs on its back wheels.

Hope the elevator is working by now.

I feel for you. I used to feel very vulnerable at work.

Anyway, for serious stairs and a manual chair the safest I think is at least 2 people, 3 is best. One person cannot control a runaway chair. Chair gets tilted back (anti-tips moved), one person mans the back, holding onto push handles or bar, get gets lowered stair to stair. Two others are on the sides of the chair, slightly below it, holding the frame, preventing it from taking off down the stairs and making it easier on the rear person.

With three, I've always felt safe, I wouldn't just 1 do it.

BTW, I hope you got home OK and the stress wasn't too bad.
