Texas Stem Cell Research Association

Proposed grass-roots

1st Annual Stem Cell Research
Fundraising Telethon 2006

The newly formed Texas Stem Cell Research Association is an advocacy group for all forms of stem cell research. We provide an educational forum for the stem cell industry, share ideas and experiences and promote potential commercialization of stem cell research within the State of Texas. We are involved in due diligence on various stem cell intellectual properties in the search for good science.

TSCRA is in the planning stages for the first annual telethon, to be held in Houston, Texas, to benefit all forms of stem cell research. We are planning to bring together local T.V. hosts, top entertainers, corporate sponsors and volunteers to make this a successful grass-roots fundraising event. Researchers will be filmed discussing the latest information on their research and how it could possibly impact the quality of life. Our goal is to attempt to raise $25mm for the first round recruitment of researchers and commercialization of stem cell research technologies. Individuals and family members afflicted with diseases such as Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes, Spinal Cord Injury, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s as well as cardiovascular conditions will be asked to be involved in this grass-roots fundraising cause. Corporations will be solicited for sponsorship opportunities.

We would like to know if you might be interested in somehow helping with the stem cell research telethon (i.e., fundraising or planning committee, public relations). We are looking for volunteers to help us get the word out.

Thank you,

The Texas Stem Cell Research Association
