    Allodynia

Aside from continuous burning pain I also have severe Allodynia. Since I am forced to wear compression stockings to offset the edema caused by the Neurontin I take, I find that the stocking themselves cause a great deal of pain as they press against my skin. Has anyone found a material that reduces this pain with compression stockings?

    Mike,

I don't have personal experience with this, but I've heard that some touch allodynia can be minimized by using the smoothest possible material against the skin. Smoothness can be even more important than softness, e.g. silk would be more comfortable than Egyptian cotton.

I'm not sure this will do any good with your stockings. Any chance that the edema could be reduced with meds instead of stockings?

    Thanks David

I will see if I can find compression stockings made from a smoother material.

Based on the lack of relief I am getting with Neurontin and now Trileptal, I might be better off with no medication at all.
