Hi, someone made a comment about not using a helmet...and I just had
    to respond...

If you are riding a handcycle and not wearing a helmet, you are an
accident waiting to happen...I have been riding for nearly 10 years
now nad have seen some prety hairy wrecks...I myself had had one
major crash. I was with a new rider whom crashed and while looking
back to see what happened, I lost control myslef, we were both going
about 30mph. within less thana second, I was upside down with the
handcycle riding above me and I was skidding along on my helmet.
Without the helmet, I woudl have been seriously injoured...with it,
I was just scratched up a little..

I have seen someone go down at nearly 40 mph and cracked a helemet
in 2 pieces, again, rolled away with a few stitches and some war
    scars...but smiling.

Please do not ride without a helmet. It is not uncommon to reach
speeds in the 30-40 mph range...I have even ridden at 56 mph
before. Seriuos injury can happen at even slower speed if you are
not seen but a motorist. I can almost guarantee that if you ride
long enough, you will have a crash. With a helmet, it will be
minimal. But, if you are not wearing one, we may never hear about
it, for you will be either dead of have a severe btain injury.

I use to work at a care center and saw several cyclist come through
that had not been wearing helmets. There lives would never be teh
    same.

We have all been through serious injury injry once before...we are
not invincible now...I know we sometimes play the numbers game by
thinking, what are the odds of it happening again...well...it can
happen again and a severe brain injury is preventable if you just
spend a few bucks on a helmet.

Well, enough of my soap box, Ride safe and enjoy...Greg

    respond to not only the
    challenges you're dealt but
    the challenges you seek...If
    you have no goals, no
    mountains to climb, your
    soul dies".~Liz Fordred

When I used to ride my bike I was always wearing a helmet. In fact it saved my life in my accident after which I left in a wheelchair. I hit a bus with my head with over 50km/h. The helmet absorbed the main hit power but even this wasn't enough in this case...
