Caledon swimmer sets world record
MAR DEL PLATA, Argentina-Stephanie Dixon of Caledon broke her world record in the women's 400-metre freestyle yesterday at the world championships for swimmers with a disability.

Dixon, 18, who swims in the S9 class, had a time of four minutes 52.20 seconds to break her previous world mark of 4:53.83.

Dixon was delighted with her strong results considering she missed four weeks of training this fall due to illness. "For awhile there, I wasn't even sure I'd be able to compete this week. But I gained a lot of confidence in the training leading up to the worlds and I was hopeful I could do some best times."
