German Embassy donates wheelchairs to basketball team

German Ambassador Gisela Kaempffe-Sikora will hand over on Monday├é┬* four new basketball wheelchairs to the Wheelchair Basketball Team of the Lebanese Goodwill Association, the embassy has announced.

According to a statement released on Friday, the wheelchairs were donated by the German company MEYRA, an internationally renowned producer, with the cooperation of the German Embassy and the Willi-Daume Foundation in Germany, which supports sports activities worldwide.

After Monday's donation ceremony, the association's basketball team will play Ghoubeiry.

The association was founded in 1992, when it formed its wheelchair basketball team. The statement said the association has "increased the awareness for handicapped sports in Lebanon and encouraged the formation of other wheelchair basketball teams in the country."
