SchlumbergerSema Provides IT Muscle for 2002 Paralympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 14, 2002--SchlumbergerSema, a business unit of Schlumberger Limited (NYSE:SLB) and the Worldwide Information Technology (IT) Partner of the Olympic Games, today announced that it is providing IT integration services and operations management to support the 2002 Paralympic Winter Games.

The Paralympic Games, which take place in Salt Lake City on March 7- 16, 2002, bring together more than 400 outstanding athletes from 36 countries who have transcended physical disabilities to compete in 95 world class medal events.

Delivering a scaled-down version of the mammoth IT support it recently provided for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, SchlumbergerSema is operating the Information Technology Center - the Games' mission control which supports three sporting venues -- and integrating the hardware and software. The company has adapted its Games Management Systems software applications to meet the unique needs of the Paralympic Games.

"SchlumbergerSema IT experts are providing an encore performance of the outstanding IT support they delivered to the Winter Games in Salt Lake City earlier this month," stated Mitt Romney, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the Paralympic Winter Games. "Once again their integration, operations management and software development skills are contributing to the success of an event that will be experienced by television audiences around the world."

Building on its successful deployment of the large scale, complex IT operations at the Salt Lake 2002 Winter Games, SchlumbergerSema is delivering the world's largest sports IT contract, encompassing four Olympic Games over an eight-year period - Athens in 2004, Turin in 2006 and Beijing in 2008.
