    Bone fractures question

Two years ago I broke my leg during transfer from my wheelchair to my bed. Yesterday I again broke the same leg during a nose dive from my wheelchair. I am 6 years post SCI, I fell maybe 10-12 times during this period and twice I broke something. Is this common problem with SCI? How many of you broke something? Are there any techniques to prevent bone fractures during fall, specially during nose dive when legs are going under your body?

kl, this has been discussed ad nauseum on these forums. Nearly everyone with SCI will have serious osteoporosis within 2-3 years of their injury. If you do a search using the term "osteoporosis" you will find enough previous discussions to keep you occupied for days.

Sorry about your fractures. I hope you are getting appropriate treatment (no casts).

Thank you nurse. I used term "bone fracture" in a search and did not find much. I will try "osteoporosis"
