    Traumatic brain injury w/ paralysis~

Nurse or anyone else, could you suggest some sites for a friend of mine who's husband is two weeks into the above. He is off the ventilator and has regained his long term memory, but has short term memory loss and left side incomplete paralysis as yet. She is just two weeks away from delivering their first child, she could use some support and information to help her through this.

    Here are a few sites:

    http://www.biausa.org

    http://www.sdbif.org/Guide/Intro.htm

    http://www.bindependent.com/

When looking for rehabilitation programs, she would be best to find a SCI Center that also has a TBI rehabilitation program, as he will likely need services from both teams. 60% of all people with traumatic SCI also have at least a mild TBI, but this sounds like more severe than most.

TY nurse. His brain injury is the reason for the paralysis, there wasn't any sci injury from what she has said, so I am at a loss to advise her other than suggesting a rehab. as you stated. I appreciate your help/advice.

CARF accredits TBI rehab programs similarily to SCI programs, with very strict standards. You can find TBI rehab programs that are accredited by using the Providers search page on their website: www.carf.org
