    Van Modification

Has anyone or anyone you know used a place called, Modified Vehicle Specialist, in Toledo, OH for their modifications? If so anyone have any bad experience with them. My daughter has had her van since Feb. 2003 and has had nothing but problems. She got 3 bids and Vocational Rehab picked that one to use. Thanks Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,I can't believe they want you to go all the way to toledo. There's several places in the cincinnati area that are very reputable.Hamilton's Assistive Technology Service, M C Mobolity Systems Inc. are a couple goodluck,Steve.

I am sorry if you misunderstood, but the modifications are done. She has had her van back just over a year and yes Vocational Rehab did pick this company in Toledo and we could not beleive it either, but it happened. But she has had numerous problems, she has been stuck in it more than once, where the side door wouldn't open. Nuts & bolts have fallen off. Her husband just took the van to Toledo for regular maintenance a week ago and just a couple of days after that, the lift started coming down before her chair was completely on it, the back tires were still in the van. She drives this and goes places by her self.
I would suggest that no one uses this company.
    Thank Cheryl

Start mentioning or writing to lawyers or State Legislators using the words liability and fraud, waste and abuse.

    I'd keep all written work.
Send VR the bills for repair, maybe next time, they won't take the bid!

Thanks for you responses and will tell her about the company in Canton. The van is now at where the lift was made, Braun. Modified Vehicle Spec. says its their fault, but that is just one thing, but that is what needs to be fixed ASAP. Just an FYI, do not use this company.

Tri-State got bought out last year. They built my IDS, etc mods. I had to watch them like a hawk. It drove me nuts!! Tri State does not currently have liscence to do IDS systems. They are now currently owned by Mobility Works, which has offices listed here: http://www.tristatemobility.com/contact.php

Do not go to the place in Fairfield, they did mods and got smacked with a lawsuit as the person they modified his van for had an accident and it was their fault. I had them do maintenence to my entervan sliding door and it didn't help at all. $60.00/hr out the door, wasted.

Key Mobility in Xenia guys are nice. They have liscence for EMC mods only not IDS, otherwise they do nice work. They solved my door problems and have a good relationship w the Dodge dealer they once used to be a "part of",Key Dodge in Xenia. www.keymobility.com

I'm currently dealing with Columbus mobility specialist in Worthington, as I'm told by BVR they are only company right now who has IDS system (my driving system) liscence in Ohio. So far, they are nice. My van is in their hands currently. I'll let you know how it goes!

These have been my experiences in Ohio with my modified van. I live in Cincinnati currently. Take care.

Additionally, if its been just over a year, these things should all be under warranty.

Hopefully your in contact with Gayle from Rehab technology Associates, to inform them of these problems. Were they the consultants you worked with, with BVR? Their number is 800-987-2753. Call them! They will help you!
