    Grand Opening

The Christopher and Dana Reeve Paralysis Resource Center (PRC)

May 3, 2002, is the grand opening of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Paralysis Resource Center (PRC), a comprehensive source of information for people living with or affected by paralysis.
Funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the PRC was created to establish a single, focused national resource on paralysis. It provides information services for people who are newly paralyzed, those living with paralysis for two or more years, their families and caregivers. Information resources are organized into broad categories, such as active living, travel, health, and rehabilitation.

Highly trained Information Specialists quickly respond to questions in English and Spanish on a myriad of paralysis-related issues via the PRC's toll-free telephone number (800-539-7309), email (prc@crpf.org) or in person (see address below). The PRC houses a national clearinghouse library of paralysis-related publications, maintains a constantly evolving self-help website, and publishes an extensive print manual, The Paralysis Resource Guide (first edition Fall 2002).

In addition, the PRC and CRPF provide Quality of Life grants to organizations that promote the health of people affected by paralysis. The PRC will also continually produce issue-specific educational and training materials in various formats, and will support research into the prevention of secondary conditions caused by paralysis.
