    Fla.'s Harris Pushes Voting Bill

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Secretary of State Katherine Harris joined state lawmakers Wednesday in pushing a bill to better accommodate disabled voters at polling stations.

Harris, who gained notoriety for her role in the state's handling of the contentious 2000 presidential election, said she didn't know how much it would cost to meet the bill's goals. They include outfitting polling stations with special computerized touch-screens for blind voters and making the stations wheelchair-accessible.

``We have not truly reformed our election system ... until we forcefully address the exclusion of persons with disabilities from full and equal participation in the elections,'' said Harris, who is also a Republican candidate for Congress.

The bills would also require candidates and political parties to have closed-captioning on all their ads and would abolish a five-minute time limit on voting.

She needs to introduce a bill to promote voting by the mentally ill, as those are the only people who will vote for her.
