Some Alaska appropriations Sen. Ted Stevens pushed through Congress:

Labor, Health & Human Services, Education departments

$24 million -- Alaska Native Education Equity Act

$20 million -- Denali Commission (additional $60 million in other spending bills)

$2 million -- Alaska Native Heritage Center and the Inupiat Heritage Center split money for joint program with Hawaii and Massachusetts

$2 million -- Qualified teachers for Alaska program

$2 million -- Teacher training to reduce rural teacher shortage

$2 million -- Adolescent residential help center in Anchorage

$1.5 million -- Residential substance abuse treatment for Anchorage

Defense Department

$40 million -- Alaska Combat training range

$10.2 million -- Alaska Railroad track relocation on Elmendorf Air Force and Fort Richardson Army bases

$8.5 million -- Utilidor repairs on Eielson Air Force Base

$1.5 million -- Payment to 17 Alaska Natives who participated in damaging iodine testing in mid-1950s

$2 million -- Alaska Federal Health Care Telemedicine Network

National disease research in Defense bill at Stevens' request:

$150 million -- Breast cancer

$42.5 million -- Prion -- Mad-cow disease

$2.1 million -- Spinal cord injury

$5 million -- Prostate cancer
