    NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 23, 2001--Invacare Corporation (NYSE:IVC), the global leader in the manufacture and distribution of innovative medical products which promote recovery and active lifestyles for those who require home or other non-acute health care, introduces some 50 new and enhanced products and programs at Medtrade 2001, Oct. 23-25 in New Orleans.

    In its exhibit space titled "The New Zone," Invacare highlights product innovation and business support programs that identify Invacare as not just an equipment supplier, but even more importantly as a business partner.

    Invacare will raise the curtain on 19 new wheelchairs, including the first in a series of all-new power wheelchairs, the Invacare(R) Xterra(TM) GT(TM), (pending FDA 510(K) clearance) for active users who want powered mobility, and the brand new Nutron(TM) Series, a traditional rear-wheel-drive power chair offering a wide range of configurations. The Xterra GT features hot new styling on a durable, two-inch steel frame to fulfill the desires of the most active wheelchair users.

    Invacare will showcase the latest in maneuvering technology with the Pronto(TM) M71, based on its patent-pending SureStep(TM) suspension system that enables the chair to power over two-inch obstacles easily and smoothly.

    The MVP(TM) and MVP Jr. also break onto the scene at Medtrade, demonstrating that active users of all ages who want the convenience of a folding custom manual wheelchair need not sacrifice performance for portability.

    Invacare also will introduce two new Top End(R) chairs for sports and recreation enthusiasts, the T-3(TM) Titanium for tennis and the XLT PRO for handcycling, raising the bar for performance in athletic wheelchairs. In addition, Invacare will unveil two pediatric chairs, the Top End(R) Terminator(TM) Jr. and the Solara(TM) Jr., that bring Terminator-style performance and the Solara tilt-in-space technology to children.

    Also new this year is the Zoom(TM)-3, a new personal mobility vehicle that provides maneuverability and performance at an affordable price.

    Respiratory Technology

    Invacare will unveil a revolutionary innovation in respiratory technology -- the Invacare(R) Venture(R) HomeFill(TM) II -- that will help simplify the lives of patients and make HME providers' respiratory services simpler and more cost-efficient.

    HomeFill II is an all-new, easier-to-use ambulatory oxygen system that allows patients to fill their own high-pressure cylinders from a specially designed Invacare 5-liter concentrator. In addition, the company is upgrading its line of Invacare(R) 5-liter concentrators at no additional cost to customers make them automatically compatible with the Venture HomeFill II system.

    Also new is the Invacare(R) Overnight Hand Held Printing Pulse Oximeter, making it easier than ever to help qualify or re-qualify patients for supplemental oxygen use; the Venture(R) Demand Oxygen Delivery Device, giving patients greater freedom of movement; the Freeway(R) Freedom, a brand new portable aerosol compressor specifically designed to address the needs of consumers who travel; and the new Poseidon Passover Humidifier, an easy-to-maintain humidifier that interfaces with a variety of CPAP systems.

    I believe Invacare was Invalidcare back in the '60's and early 70's.Does anyone remember that name?
