    Ankle wound

My 12 year old son has had an ankle wound for three years. He was injured (t2) when he was five. The kind was from one hour in an AFO as his ankle was turning in. We?ve been through three years of wound care, skin grafts and a wound vac for four months. It?s only getting worse. I?m feeling hopeless.

Has he been evaluated for/treated for osteomyelitis of the bone? What type of wound care physician has he seen?

The SCI-Nurses are advanced practice nurses specializing in SCI/D care. They are available to answer questions, provide education, and make suggestions which you should always discuss with your physician/primary health care provider before implementing. Medical diagnosis is not provided, nor do the SCI-Nurses provide nursing or medical care through their responses on the CareCure forums.

He’s seen both an orthopedic surgeon and a plastic surgeon. Plenty of tests, scans, cultures and so on. Just a slow healing (non healing) wound.

When you say skin grafts, are those split thickness grafts, or was bio-engineered or cloned/tissue culture tissue used? Matrix dressings? Was an MRI and/or bone biopsy among the tests to rule out osteomyelitis?

We use PICO (vac), clean with Vashe, then apply Hydrophera blue, if that doesn't help and no infection- go to Biologics like Amniocell

What does that mean? Is Biologics a company?
