Thread: Cushion besides Roho

    Cushion besides Roho

I am looking for a cushion that is good for high risk of pressure sores other than Roho brand? Any suggestions?

You really should choose a cushion based on a computerized interface pressure session with a good seating specialist who can evaluate your needs on a number of different cushions. There is no one-size-fits-all cushion that works best for everyone...if there were, there would only be one on the market. If we knew your location, we might be able to recommend a good place to get such a seating evaluation done.

I switched from Roho 4" to a Ride Design Java cushion. It is essentially a "hemorrhoid donut", there is a hole under your isch's and the surrounding area bears the support weight. Been working for me, but I agree with KLD, get a mapping done if you can, only way to really know what works best for you.

I opened this thread to say just this!

    Underrated comment right here.

    It's always the right answer!

I have done the typical pressure mapping. I actually do it every five years and I just think their always go to is Roho, not just for me for everyone which should not be the case as there are so many different style ones.. For example i have never heard anyone suggest Stimulite Classic Cushion or Stimulite Contoured or Evolution..

    Interesting! Thanks for posting this.

How long can you get out of a charge?

Did you find this yourself, or did a PT/doc recommend it to you?

Were you having pain or sores prior to using this?

This is my point... There are so many new products, technologies are out there but seems like everyone is stuck with the ROHO....

Was your seating evaluation done by a vendor/DME or by a therapist who had no financial interest in selling you on a particular product?

I think KLD brings up an important issue. Some DME?s I?ve dealt with seem to deal with a small group of vendors and tend to push those brands.
It?s good to go to a large seating eval clinic that deals with numerous products and has a wide range of experience/knowledge to draw from. ( if you are fortunate enough to have a large clinic near you)
