Bypass Injury Level

Nerves in our body will grow back so why can they attach a nerve below the injury to one above then do estim to teach the brain the new way to the dorment nerves. like attach the nerves that control the arms and hands to bicep nerve if C5. Is this being done or tried. i'm not finding it on the web. i don't know what to call this type of procedure.

thank you very much for the info. sadly, i don't live near any of these areas. hopefully they'll bring it to indianapolis.
