Give me ideas - planning trip for across the south

Sadly this thread has taken a different direction for the OP because someone felt the need to turn it into a geography lesson.

My wife and I are interested in doing a leisurely trip across the south in the winter. We may take a couple months to do this year or next. Anyone have ideas for where to visit is greatly appreciated. I am familiar with Florida but otherwise little else. We are in to historical things and we like to inland fish. Really like national parks also. I drive from my wheelchair so not interested in mountain driving.

Savannah is beautiful. New Orleans is a lot of fun and great food. I think landover will agree with me about South Beach being a yes.

As KLD and nonoice have already pointed out, the area in question is the SOUTHwest, and therefore a perfectly appropriate response to the original question; not sure what ax you have to grind here. As regards your map, here's another (as if this point were not already clear enough...)
