    Recycling Roho Cushions

Since GJ's passing, I am dealing with finding homes for medical supplies and durable medical equipment.

Fortunately, I have found a source for many of the supplies. I am working on finding homes for the durable medical equipment.

But, when I speak with any agencies that may be willing to take wheelchairs, they have no interest in the Roho cushions. Seems that cushions are just too personal of an item or there is question about their condition and longevity.

So...if I can't find a home for the Roho cushions...what is the alternative to just dumping them in landfill...what a pity.

Wish there were some kind of environment responsible take back provision by medical equipment providers so these kinds of items wouldn't end up in our landfills.

    Anyone have any ideas.

You can post them for sale or free on our Equipment and Services exchange forum. Someone might be able to use them. Would recommend listing the model, size, and how old the cushion is (if known).

The SCI-Nurses are advanced practice nurses specializing in SCI/D care. They are available to answer questions, provide education, and make suggestions which you should always discuss with your physician/primary health care provider before implementing. Medical diagnosis is not provided, nor do the SCI-Nurses provide nursing or medical care through their responses on the CareCure forums.

You can also post them on EBay, which gets a lot of traffic for wheelchairs and cushions. I'm sure you will find a home for them.

A ROHO is probably the only cushion that I would buy used because they are easy to clean throughly.

I buy them on EBay for the same reason.

Over the years I have bought used Roho's on ebay. They go for a lot more now that they used to! 40 years experience has taught me how easy a Roho is to clean.
