Everest Jennings Rehab Shower Commode Chair - question

I have had one of these forever. They work best for me with transfers. The issue that I have run into in the last several years is that they made changes to the seats firmness. I purchased one several years ago and it is like a rock. It is uncomfortable and sitting very long causes redness. Anyone with this experience or ideas on what I can do to make more comfortable. I have looked at other chairs and they just would be more difficult to transfer on to for me. Not really an option. I was thinking maybe a more comfortable seat from another manufacturer and modified but to be honest I have no idea who has a more comfortable seat.

The E&J rehab shower/commode chair has been made by another manufacturer who bought the patent years ago. You may want to look at a different brand.

Check these out: (their 902 chair was based on a redesign of the E&J chair at a VA research center on patient safety)

The SCI-Nurses are advanced practice nurses specializing in SCI/D care. They are available to answer questions, provide education, and make suggestions which you should always discuss with your physician/primary health care provider before implementing. Medical diagnosis is not provided, nor do the SCI-Nurses provide nursing or medical care through their responses on the CareCure forums.

Regarding "Everest Jennings Rehab Shower Commode Chair ... seats firmness" - the seats become more firm with age and use. The present version of the seat is a bit less firm than the seats made prior to the last manufacturing change. The last manufacturing change involved a different OEM (a different Chinese manufacturer) and occurred a few years ago.

If your seat was made by the present OEM, and it was purchased "... several years ago ..." then the increased firmness is likely a result of the age and use factor. In this case, you could order just the seat by calling here or many other places. If your seat was made by the present OEM and you observed the seat being more firm when you first received it, then the seat you received is likely an anomaly in that regard.

Thanks but as I said there are features of the E&J allow me to do a safe transfer. None of these meet my needs.

It was hard as a rock from day 1. I actually bought another one hoping it was just a one off. That one was also hard as a rock. I will contact company to see if I can get a look on the newer version.
