Thread: GJ has passed

    Thanks all for you kind words about GJ and messages of condolences. He worked hard to be an effective contributing member of Care Cure Community.
    A favorite elegy appears below. While Auden wrote it sort of tongue in cheek for a play, we took it more seriously. It is read well by John Hannah in Four Weddings and a Funeral.

    Rest well, in peace and without pain, my love.

    NL

    Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
    Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
    Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
    Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

    Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
    Scribbling on the sky the message 'He is Dead'.
    Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
    Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

    He was my North, my South, my East and West,
    My working week and my Sunday rest,
    My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
    I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.

    The stars are not wanted now; put out every one,
    Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
    Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood;
    For nothing now can ever come to any good.

    Oh, NL. Auden's words strike to the core. Thank you for coming back here and sharing that elegy. I can't even imagine what you are going through. The words "God bless you" are so freighted with politics and tainted by cynicism these days, but if there is a force beyond the petty one that seems to rule this world, I call upon It, Him, Her, to bless you.

    Gj will be missed. I always marveled at how giving he was of his time and knowledge on here. Wishing you all the best NL.

    Many here benefited from GJ's contributions, myself included. Peace to you both.

    NL, you and GJ WERE CareCure in my eyes and more. More? You both helped save lives! I had some dialogue with the enigmatic GJNL carecure entity and came out a better SCI guy because of it . GJ and i both shared Urolome horror stories and Urological care ideas (more ideas from his mind than mine). I think the best we can do is soldier on and battle/research as GJ did. I will continue to strive for SCI health despite the odds as you two did/do!

    thanks you GJNL - GJ, Rest in Peace and honor.
