    Assisted-living options

I have a friend with great long-term care insurance that would pay for living in a care environment like an assisted living facility. But he?s only 51. I am wondering:

1] Are there any other kinds of facilities/settings that might qualify for insurance coverage?
2] is there anyplace he is likely to find people closer to his age?
3] does anyone have any suggestions in central New Jersey?

    Perhaps Project Freedom?

He might want to seek out a geriatric care/case manager. There are a number who are in private practice, and they are usually either nurses or social workers. Although he is not "geriatric", if he has a disability, he may qualify for geriatric services and assisted living facilities.

Here is one resource for finding one in NJ:

The SCI-Nurses are advanced practice nurses specializing in SCI/D care. They are available to answer questions, provide education, and make suggestions which you should always discuss with your physician/primary health care provider before implementing. Medical diagnosis is not provided, nor do the SCI-Nurses provide nursing or medical care through their responses on the CareCure forums.
