SCI Nurse-AD symptoms change

Good afternoon,

The sensation of chilled/sweating There's been a change in my pattern of dysreflexia sweating much of the time. Bowel care used to cause head and neck sweating, along with my chest, upper back, and shoulder blade region. Now, still my back, and upper chest, but my face and neck stay dry, even during digital stim. Blood pressure elevates as always.

Like my ever worsening pains, it's not a symptom of an ascending searing, as my MRIs don't show my little upwards syrinx growing or anything.

Sensation of sweating on my back can be there with high blood pressure, normal blood pressure, even low blood pressure.

A medical mystery.

Everyone's body changes over time. This could be a part of that. Do you have any other symptoms of AD when you are not doing your bowel program?

My pack, shoulder blade area particularly, will feel chilled/sweaty, but that is always accompanied by elevated high blood pressure. My PP could be 85/60, or 155/95, with the same feeling (the low BP is without Nitro-Bid.)

Another medical mystery like the ever worsening central pains with no cause seen on MRI, perhaps?

This continues. I have chilled/sweaty feeling on my upper back, including over shoulder blades (doesn't cool the constant burning, so somehow I feel both sensations at once) much of the time. It's a bothersome ssensation, on top of all the others I always feel. Such a sensation used to always be a signal of AD, as the BP would be elevated. Now, it may or may not be a signal. Facial sweating still always is.

Meanwhile, the feeling of my body hardening (like turning to bone) gets worse. That sensation in my back, along with sticking shoulder blades, and the bones sticking through skin feeling, makes using my arms more and more difficult. Doctors are no help. :-(

Yes, things change over the years. Annual MRIs show no ascending syrinx - it remains the same size, and same place (doctor measures it every year.) The sweating/chilled feeling changes are in recent years. My arms getting more and more difficult to move because of worsening shoulder blades sticking and feeling like they stick more out of my back (along with my vertebrae), and increasing back pains (hardness, burning, stiffness that resists movement, etc.) has been progressive, as has increasing pains in the rest of my body. I was blessed with a terrible case of central pain syndrome.

I saw the doctor two days ago. He still had no idea.

This loss of sweating as a warning that something is going on in the bowel department isn't good.
