Hi all.
Are the Sun Component Fushion 16 wheels lighter than Spinergy LX wheels? SC says their 25" wheels weigh 816 grams or 1.8 lbs? I can't find the weight of the 25" Spinergy LX wheels anywhere. Whenever the weight is listed for the wheel, they never indicate for which size wheel that they mean. All I know is that at $348/pair the SC wheels are less than half the price of Spinergys.

I had a set of SC F16?s 26? kind and all the lacing/spokes came dangerously loose. I?m lucky the wheels just didn?t collapse under me when sitting in my w/c.Originally Posted by fasdude
I emailed the company and complained. They sent me another exact same set, as a replacement for free. I have no idea if they added thread lock to the nipple ends to solve the dangerous issue. I haven?t had any problems with them wheels since 2009. They are currently taken apart (came apart very easily also) as I?m stripping them bare of their paint and changing the color scheme to make them more durable.
I do have a set of spingery 26?s around somewhere and I could tell the difference in weight when disassembling the chair to get in my car.

You could tell the difference... as in a lot heavier or lighter?
Sun Fusion are slightly heavier. Can tell when picking them up.

How does stiffness compare to Spinergy LX/SLX?
I don't mind a heavier wheel at all if stiffness is increased.
I have Spingery LX, Sun Fushion, and Outfront Shadow. All three are fine. Outfront Shadow is the lightest. Spinergy LX rolls the best. Sun Fushion doesn't have any outstanding features. It's just a solid wheel at a fair price. But the Outfront Shadow is even less expensive today. The only thing that I don't like about the Outfront Shadow is too many spokes to get your hand through, which makes it difficult to get the wheels on/off when transferring them into a car. But if you drive a van, that's not an issue. My preference is the Spingery LX. I am going to try their Carbon Blade next because it is supposed to be lighter. If they can make it light as the Outfront Shadow with the performance of the LX, it will be the best wheel available IMO.
I am a T-10 para post 25 years and co-own a dme. I also am workers comp got injured on the job. So I have the luxury of all my supplies being paid for. I have owned all the performance wheels. Right now my favorite pair and the wheels I run every day. The round betty dinos are the most solid and hardly no maintenance. Second Spinergy lx both with natural fit surge hand rims. I just recently received these new sentinel wheel assemblies. They are very light I haven't put them on my chair yet. They look solid I will let you know how they perform. The price was great I got the whole assembly tires and tubes $395.00
