DIY isn't that easy paralysed from the neck down so buying an off road chair was my only option. It was needed for my job (I work for a mountain bike company) so Access to Work funded 5/7ths. We are all different and I need chin control and a steering system which would be difficult to add.
Glad you could get one...they look awesome!

I admit that my views are based on what I can (or would like to) build for my son. And others, in a perfect world, but that raises the issues of profit, insurance, liability, legality, etc, which are all horrible topics!

More importantly, however, is the fact that your emoticons work, and mine don’t... (Edit...except that one did! Edit 2...but now it doesn’t...! )

They have limits, not really an equivalent to a mountain bike! I've spent this afternoon with the owner of the company who make the Boma talking about development, honestly, you don't want the hassle of production/manufacturing and selling. Make one for your son and leave it at that.

Your emoji worked at the end of the quote, will see what happens when I post...

if you build any of these kits make sure you get the batteries from a well known builder. In the USA the ebike kits battery have caused a lot of house fires.

I was only able to find one article about a house fire from an ebike kit causing a house fire because the battery terminals were allowed to make contact. Can you share some articles?

Lithium Ion batteries are the most likely to catch fire, LFP (LiFeP04) are safer. If you use a power chair there are options to convert to Lithium but probably not Lithium ion. A number of websites give info on the pros/cons of each type.

Easy enough to find more on the dangers these are just from 2 pages on Google.
