    Uti

    Klebsiella pneumoniae.

    after sending urine in for all testing it came back sensitive to ceftiaxone did 8 days 2x a day. didnt touch it.

    waited required time sent sample in again came back sensitive to Nitrofurantoin did 10 days 3x a day. did not touch it.

    waited required time sent sample in just got results still have Klebsiella pneumoniae sensitive now to Amikacin.

    do i try the Amikacin ............... so confused seeing family Dr monday, Uroligist on holidays till end of August.

    Have you been tested for urinary stones? Klebsiella is often associated with infected struvite stones, and the stones protect the bacteria from the antibiotics. It can also be associated with chronic prostatitis. Have you been examined for an enlarged prostate, or had a PSA level checked recently.

    If you have had recent surveillance for stones anywhere in your urinary tract and none have been found, I would suggest getting a consultation with an infectious disease physician.
