    Did you have the cash?
    or did you have to do some creative financing ?

    Yes and no. Technically, all real estate transactions are cash (with the exception of owner-financed deals). It's just a matter of how and when that cash is acquired. In conventional deals, the offer is made first and the cash is acquired second. In auctions, the cash is acquired first and the offer is made second. In both cases, the buyer can finance the cash payment.

    I bought a lot at an online auction once and it was an utter disaster. I thought I knew the area well enough...
