How high does the Aluminum Tariff have to go until Titanium reaches parity for chairs

    A little tongue in cheek...

But how high has the tariff got to be on Aluminum before it drives the price high enough that it becomes practical to use Titanium from a cost standpoint?

Not to mention that the cheapest Ti comes from Russia and they certainly won't see any tariffs :P

I see what you're getting at but it would be easier to correlate the two if they were on the same scale on the Y-axis. In the 4 year period from the graphs, aluminum fluctuated from ~$1.10 - ~$0.67 per pound. The titanium ~$3.40 - ~ $1.50 per pound. So, even with the aluminum at the highest price ($1.10) versus the titanium at the lowest ($1.50), in this four year trend it would still be cheaper to go with aluminum. Averaging it all out mentally and without doing the numbers, I'd say if aluminum gets up to $2.00/pound and titanium remains consistent, then titanium would most likely be cost advantageous.

Using these cost assumptions, we really should be investigating why a Ti frame doesn't cost $4.00 and an Al frame doesn't cost $5.00
