Thread: HDMI sound is gone

Anyone ever used one of these USB sound cards?

I'm having a hell of a time trying to find a Windows 10 compatible pci/pci-e card.

Can you send show a screentshot of your playback devices?
If needed: Right click volume control, select Playback Devices

Before the problem occurred, playback devices had the option of selecting HDMI. Now its not available.

I ordered a USB sound card last night. Hopefully, when it gets here tomorrow, my problem will be solved.

Does the audio "play" out of your monitor, well did it?
When you used the portable speakers, did you change it to the Speakers icon?

The audio and video was from my TV, via the HDMI cable.
I can't recall if I switched it or not, but I won't be able to check it this evening due to my caregiver/assistant called in a little bit ago.
I know that the portable speakers didn't work in the PC headphone jack but they did in my laptop.

New sound card installed but still no sound through the HDMI cable (regular audio out works). I'm gonna try one last thing and if that fails, I'll get a new (or refurbished) computer. One that was designed for Windows 10. I'm tired of incompatible hardware and drivers.

New motherboard and new PSU... sound is back! Unfortunately, my movie storage HDD isn't registering so we'll have to open it back up and check the cables. Also, Windows didn't recognize my system and won't activate. My cousin said he could get me a new license so with a little luck I'll be watching movies before the weekend. I may install a SSD to speed things up, while I'm at it.

Does it show up in Disk Management? That would be a good start.
Plus, look in your BIOS and see if it shows up there.
You may just need to tell your new motherboard the HDD is there.

It was a loose connection. Everything is installed and working. The only problem now is that the license key my cousin gave me won't work, so I installed Windows 7 and will try and go through Windows 10 assistive technologies free upgrade. Good luck, me.
