tilite zr unitine axles seem to be incombatible with my froglegs 5x1.4 casters

What gives? And can I get unitine axles that will fit?

TiLite and Frog Legs use different size bearings, thus the incompatibility. FL does offer some of its casters with compatible bearings so you might investigate an exchange depending, of course, on where you bought them.

I would suggest first contacting FL and confirm that they still offer casters with the TiLite bearing size. You won't find this info on their website, I know about it from conversations with them.

The frog leg Caster bearing is the the same outside diameter of 7/8 as the tilite R6 bearing. Maybe you can buy the R6 bearing and swap it out with the Frog leg one, and then you'll fit your axle.

I had this dilemma a while ago because I needed to replace my TiLite casters, and I wanted to buy the FL instead, but I found out about the bearing size ahead of time. Instead of trying to do what I suggested, I ended up buying the tilite caster through DMEHUB.

I'm interested to know if that works. It's worth a shot.

Just thought I'd bump this as I'm in a similar position after purchasing 4" FL Soft Roll casters for my ZR2 w/ Slipstream forks and yet to find a bearing that fits.

FL casters use a 608; Tilite performance use R6.

    608: 8 x 22 x 7mm
    R6: 3/8 x 7/8 x 9/32 IN

    so we need a 3/8 x 22 x 7ish bearing

3/8 ~10mm (9.525mm) so 3/8 axle would be a very, very tight fit, but 11mm ID bearings are very scarce and pricey ($150 each, and OD is too small anyway)

10 x 22 x 6 (6900) bearings are readily available and reasonably priced. At ~0.5 mm (10-9.5) diameter difference, the axles would have to be sanded down a bit to fit; depending on tolerances, they might be pressed on. It's a gamble . . .

Option mentioned above: R6 OD = 7/8IN = 22.25mm. Perhaps it would be easier to press an R6 into FL caster (0.25mm too big) . . .
