    Anesthesia options for kidney surgery

I am curious if there is any other options available when undergoing a open partial nephrectomy instead of general anesthesia . I am in generally good health for a 61 year old quad, but would like to avoid intubation and possible complications that go with it. I do experience AD and leg spasms. I have been told that spinal anesthesia combined with paravertebral block might be an option. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I have never seen anyone not go under general anesthesia. The kidney is pretty high up and they don't like to block that area. It can be a long surgery also. You can always ask your surgeon/anesthesiologist.
