I wish I would have tried one at the Expo-I'm dense sometimes. But I had picked up a ZX-1 for cheap ($1600) and figured I didn't need a Smart Drive.
Spending time with this relative behemoth leaves me wondering if maybe I should unload it and get a SD which is so portable.
Which makes me ask: why don't you use it?

I have both a ZX-1 and a Smartdrive. The ZX-1 just isn't practical for me and I haven't used it in years. I can take the smartdrive on airplanes, in the car and it has an amazing amount of power for such a small device. This probably wont mean much to most people but the smartdrive got me from the Ferry Building up to Union Square in San Francisco which is a really steep climb that I probably couldn't have made on my own. I am in the process of converting the ZX1 and an old ZRA and freewheel to an off-road chair to help my wife in our vineyard. Right now I use an Icon w/ knobby tires and it works but I am starting to wear out my shoulders.
