I was going to say that. Good call.

I tried one of the Purple mattresses but found it too soft for easy transfers and repositioning. They were very accommodating on the mattress return and seem like a good company. I like that their seat pads are priced like bedding and not like medical--rip-off--pricing.

Couldn't you use a 2-3 inch thick piece of closed cell foam? Like what pool noodles are made of... Just a thought.

Buckling columns offer excellent pressure relief. You could put a layer of latex over the top to make it easier to transfer and position yourself. That way you get the pressure relief of the buckling columns and the easy of mobility of the latex. But then again if you're going to bury the buckling columns, then maybe memory foam would be just as good at a lower price.

I've got a gel cushion from Action I take with me when I travel has a removable cover and dries quick but it is heavy. http://www.actionproducts.com/home-m...-cushions.html
