Hand Controls for Car

I searched for hand controls and saw some recommendations but didn't see where anyone had asked specifically for pros/cons of different systems. I'm looking for hand controls (been having problems finding the brake pedal when driving recently) that don't interfere with someone else driving since my wife and I drive the same car. Would appreciate recommendations on what you are using. Also curious if anyone has just a brake hand control installed. I don't have any problem finding the gas pedal since it is on the far right.

Hand controls are available for just the brake, I know MPD and Monarch makes them.

I have a preference for MPD brand controls, for the appearance of them. MPD has a nice black aluminum operation bar, Monarch has a gaudy clunky looking chrome plated operation bar. MPD linkage and joints are also much more refined looking. If a brake only set is hard to find on ebay or the like, a regular set could be used and just not install the gas portion of the mechanism.

Agreed, the Monarch's could use an update as far as style.

I went to MPD on my Sienna van and I really like them. My wife able bodied has no problem with them being in her way.

Hello Mike. If I understand correctly, you have use of your right(?) leg. Your car is an automatic?
Is there a reason why you cannot defer using a hand control and drive using your one functioning leg?

Not all states require relicensure to use hand controls. Experienced hand control users don't need to go through driver's evaluation or training again to change the system they are using.

Thanks everyone for the input. slow_runner- I've been driving 14 years using my right leg but lately have been missing the brake pedal sometimes. I'm trying to figure out if I should use hand controls. Currently I'm driving like an old man - leaving lots of space so that if I do miss the brake pedal I've got time to find it before needing to stop.
