    Congratulations on your retirement!

    On behalf of the many thousands of people you have helped over the years, thank you! We are so very fortunate to have you here at CareCure.

    Professional nursing since 1974, primarily in rehabilitation nursing, with a specialty in spinal cord injury rehabilitation and sustaining care as a clinical nurse specialist from 1984-2017. Recruited to open a new VA spinal cord injury center in 1989.

    She is a published author and teaches extensively for both lay and professional groups, including guest lecturing for both local and Brazilian schools of nursing on SCI nursing care. She is a member of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses, the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals, and the American Spinal Injury Association, and an honorary life member of Paralyzed Veterans of America. She serves on the steering committee for the Consortium for Spinal Cord Medicine representing ARN. She was selected to be Clinical Nurse Specialist of the Year for 2003 by the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS), was admitted to the SCI Hall of Fame by the National Spinal Cord Injury Association in 2008 in the SCI Educator category, and received the VA Secretary's Award for Excellence (RN-Expanded Role) in 2012.

    Kathy loves to travel the globe, so I'm sure she will be traveling far and wide in the coming years.
