Thread: steering tripin- quads

  1. #11
I use your standard tri pin. Over the years, however, I've developed extremely bad pain in my thumb which was due in part to the stress placed on the thumb joint when turning the steering wheel, specifically clockwise, which causes an outward prying pressure on the thumb joint. As a result, for any distance over 10 minutes, I now drive with a thumb Spica brace which you can see in the picture. It makes driving much more comfortable in our recommended for quads who use a tri pin and will be driving any type of distance. It will save your thumb in the long run. However, to use it my vehicle dealer had to modify the tri pin to accommodate the increased width of the brace, which they did with a little bit of fabrication and spot welding on the backside of the steering device.

A thought on your issue fuentejps, adjust your seat so you are sitting high and as close to the wheel as you can.

Fuentejps, have you considered wearing a wrist splint when driving to stabilize your wrist? Something like this?

I had to be able to extend my wrist when driving otherwise my hand would slip out when turning. IMO, the wrist brace would only hinder wrist extension. Like you, I have no wrist flexion.
