    digestive enzyme supplement

Does anyone use these products, and how have you found using them? I understand that the vegetable based ones are safe to use long term ?

Yes, I've taken Bromelain and Papain. Bromelain is from pineapple, and Papain is from papaya. I used them because I was having pain that I believed to be pancreatitis. I had to be careful only to take the enzymes after eating enough food to need the digestive aid. Without there being enough food in the stomach for the enzymes to digest, the enzymes could cause harm. They are powerful. On a personal note, I did "liver flushes" which improved my digestion enough that I could discontinue taking digestive enzymes. I might still take them if I were to eat a meal containing a lot of fat or meat. I would have taken them long term if I'd felt their need in order to digest my food. It was beginning to be expensive, and I was paying for them myself.
