Oh boy, should've tucked in to a nice warm bed, hot chocolate and popcorn for this thread. Paolo, can I offer you some ice?

The efforts of a few hospitals resulted not in any additional money but a two year pilot study at the expense of the hospitals participating with CMS to try to ensure access to rehabilitation under Medicare and Medicaid. There are no payments beyond the already low reimbursements. The consumer will be the winner. This was all about access to qualified LTACHs. If CMS is not convinced then you will need to have been in ICU and on a ventilator for 3 days or more to be admitted to an LTACH.
