Good suggestion, Smokey. I think it would help 24/7. Good ones (wifi extenders) can be found for under $60.

I don't think so because the wifi signal for the sensors is coming from the ecobee thermostat unit. I have good coverage with my wireless network.

Maybe a Z wave extender? Contact Ecobee and see what they recommend.

I actually did contact them. They said it was an RF signal (915 mhz) and suggested I move the sensor within 40 feet of the thermostat. Our master bedroom is about 50 feet which is why it keeps dropping.

For what it's worth, I've been using Nest for a number of years. It is extremely helpful. I definitely recommend a remote thermostat if it's hard to get out of bed or if you have difficult regulating body temperature. My particular Nest unit occasionally loses the Wifi connection - about once a month I'd say. Maybe this is because it's such an old unit. I still like the product quite a bit.
