Adult dosage is 1gm tablet twice daily. Too large a dose can cause bladder irritation. Sometimes vitamin C is prescribed to create a Ph level in the urine that will maximize the effectiveness of Hiprex.

I have used it. They wanted me to take 4 tablets a day. It works for some as I have read. Did not work for me.

For about 40 years. lol Seriously. Prior to that I used methenamine mandulate. The active ingredient (methanemine) is the same as in Hiprex.

I'm guessing it worked well for you. did you stick with the 2 grams(pills) per day.

I've been taking the Hiprex since February of this year and so far it seems to be working well for me. I was on pace to have a uti once every 3 months and since starting it I haven't had any.

My Dad has been taking methenamine 1g, three times a day. He takes it with 1g of Vitamin C each time, to help acidify the urine.

Can't say how much it helps. No UTIs, but he is doing multiple things to prevent UTIs. Gentamicin instillations twice a day probably help the most!
