    Portable lift

Has anyone ever heard of or seen a Hoyer type lift that is portable or foldable for travel? It's a pain to try and rent one.

I use a Likolight which has, unfortunately, been discontinued. I have seen the Molift Smart 150 suggested as a substitute, but have never used one.

Hoyer is a brand name. The generic term is a mobile floor based lift. They used to make a travel lift which was AWFUL. Thank goodness they do not any more.

Hoyer does make the Advance mobile floor based lift which folds pretty compactly for travel.

The Molift Smart is also a lift designed for travel. Both are very nice.

The LikoLight still shows up as available on the Hill-Rom website (they bought Liko last years). http://www.liko.com/Templates/Public...epslanguage=en

I have the Advance. We have used it on a cruise and multiple hotels. Easy to use and not to big when it's folded up. We really like it!

Which hotels? I have issues of the hotels always having solid bases, despite calling ahead.

There are some hotels that will provide you with a non-platform bed. We always spoke to the manager about this, not to some reservation clerk who did not even work on the property. I have waited on the phone several times while the manager went to look at the bed in the room in question (at my insistence). Also, always "block" the room when making a reservation so that you get the exact room discussed, not an "equal" room.

Like KLD said. I call ahead and speak to the manager or housekeeping and have them check. If it's a non platform bed I ask them to measure under the bed so I know if my lift will fit under it. I keep calling hotels till I find one that will work. We have stayed at Disney Resorts, South Beach and Savannah. We stayed at the Ballagio and they had a surehands ceiling lift in the room with a king size bed that the head went up on it (it was so nice didn't have to bring my portable lift). I know there are a few more hotels in Vegas that have the surehands ceiling lift in the room. Now if we could only convince other hotels to follow them. Traveling would be so much easier!
