    A $70 "almost" computer

Interesting but I am not sure how useful it is. Then again, it is much more powerful than Apple IIs and we got a lot out of them.

How about the $5 Rasperry PI that just came out? Comes with Linux pre-installed.

I saw that review and it looks really interesting, if all you want to do is surf and e-mail, basic computer stuff and that's the ticket. Then the best thing, CHEAP!

PIs https://www.raspberrypi.org/ lot faster now. 1GB of memory goes a lot further with ARM. Can use SD or MMC for root. Can use external USB drive for mass storage /var, etc. If you run Debian can do anything.

You may not get Google Chrome builds for ARM but Debian includes its own Chromium for ARM. Sadly after Chromium switched to V8 it lost SPARC and POWER support. When it ran on SpiderMonkey it ran on SPARC and POWER. The Raspberry Pi is ARM. There are also other free web browsers, mail clients, etc. However, Microsoft viruses are lacking.
